The Polperro Heritage Art Trail

Polperro has a rich history of high-quality art, produced by both visiting and resident artists since the nineteenth century. The Heritage Art Trail presents some examples within the context of where they were created. The Polperro Arts Foundation has posted eleven small signs like the example shown here, each placed where an artist set up his or her easel many years ago. Visitors can point the camera of their smart phone or tablet computer at the QR code and an internet link will pop up on their screen. Tapping on the link will reveal a painting which can be compared with the modern view.

The art historian David Tovey has kindly provided originals of most of these paintings on permanent loan to the village. They and many others are available in the Methodist Chapel; look out for notices advertising occasional exhibitions.
